Summer Love

It's Labor Day, which means summer has officially come and gone (though recent temps make it seem otherwise). It's so hard to believe it's already September 7th! I mean, come on people, Christmas is a mere 3 1/2 months away!

But that's beside the point. :)

Here's a recap of our lives as of late:

1. We/Matt spent quite a bit of time working on the hardwood floors in our living & dining rooms, and we painted nearly the entire house (though we still have the master bedroom to go). It's been so nice to have a fresh coat of paint on the walls, and the floors look divine. One thing we've noticed is that with hardwood floors, a cat, and a dog, Swiffer has become of the utmost importance!

We spent a Friday night staining the entire living room floor, square by square, as it's a must to stain in the direction of the wood grain. Literally, we stained from 8 pm to 3 am. Clearly, we know how to have a good time! And Sadie obviously did her part to help.

2. We celebrated anniversary numero quatro in Ventura & Santa Barbara. It was a wonderfully relaxing trip of beaching, wining & dining.

3. When Matt planned a weekend trip to go backpacking, Sadie and I decided to have a girls weekend away, too, in San Luis Obispo at Gram & Gramp's. Matt got to hike and eat dehydrated food to his heart's content with Luke in the Sierra Nevadas.

I strolled the outlets and ate yummy homecooked meals with Gram, Gramp, and Mom. Hmmm... something tells me I got the better end of the stick there.

4. Matt got a new truck! Sad to see the Caddy go, but he couldn't be happier about his new Nisaan Titan. Oh yeah... this is a man's truck fo sho.

5. John moved to LA! This is exciting on so many levels since he is so close!

6. On a sadder note, Luke moved to Reno for grad school. It's so wonderful for him, but sad for us since we had gotten used to having both baby bros only a short car ride away.

7. Fantasy Football has commenced! I've been asked to be in the BJ's Corporate league this year, which is quite an honor. :) This is in addition to the third year of my all-female league, and Matt is in a league as well. Competition is getting fierce! Drafts were this weekend, so we are full steam ahead! Come Sundays, you know where to find us... plopped right in front of the television full of hope in an LT comeback year.

On deck, we have a trip to Fresno this coming weekend for Abigail's first birthday and dedication, wedding/baby showers galore, the beginning of the fall BJ's softball league, lots of work on Matt's end in preparation for internship applications, and a Vegas trip. And all of this before Thanksgiving! Stay tuned...
