Things are going fabulously in our new home! The apartment is brand new, so there is still some construction going on in the surrounding area, but the complex is just so darn cute! We live right off of Main Street (how adorably cliche, right?), and these are some of the views as you drive up the hill to our building:
The pool & fitness center are being finished in the next few weeks, but as you can see, there won't be much room for Matt to swim laps regardless. He's been searching for a community pool, but all of them are either closed or closing soon for the fall. Yet another sign that we are definitely not in California any more!
We recently got a membership at a gym down the street and have committed to going for 6 am workouts three days a week. So far, we are three for three!
Sadie has gotten to know this grassy knoll very well. Between the smells (dogs, manure, grass.. you get the picture) and the plentiful bugs & wildlife (we're 99% sure she had a frog in her mouth during one walk this week), she is in dog heaven! She has adjusted to being an apartment dog very well. We go on long walks twice daily, in the morning and evening, and I take her out a couple times during the day which is great for me. It forces me to get up from my desk and not be a computer-staring zombie for 8+ hours a day.
Ours is the gray apartment on the end. We have a small foyer & attached one-car garage on the first floor and the apartment is on the second story.
As I think I've mentioned before, we arrived in Pennsylvania with nothing more than a bed and a dresser, so we've been scouting furniture and decor consistently since we've been here. We just bought the cabinet below, which we plan to use as a television stand once Comcast does their thing today.
This chest is already so special to us. Matt spotted it last weekend at a used furniture store in Ephrata. We almost bought it then, but held off because of not knowing what else we'd be purchasing and what look we were going for.
Matt had been thinking about the chest all week, so we went back last night and - lo and behold! - it was still there! He literally told me that his heart skipped a beat when he saw it again, which I thought was so sweet. :) We bought it and love it! We've confirmed that it was manufactured in the 1920's and it has so much character. We plan to use it as a coffee table depending on what we find for seating in the living room.
Our kitchen is so cute & well laid out. It's such a treat having brand spanking new appliances, especially coming from a place where the oven cooken unevenly and a lighter was needed to light the gas stove. :) Maybe that means I will cook more? Maybe not.
We received a lovely, flowering peace lily from Mama & Papa Tatum this week. Such a nice addition to our new place!
My desk is so simple & fabulous. How about that chair?! Bananas!
Sadie takes advantage of the views from the balcony and spends time out there keeping watch over all of the neighbors and neighbor dogs walking below. They (obviously) think she's adorable and I'm quite certain she enjoys all of the attention.
Today is the first day all week that the weather has been under 90 degrees. Get a load of that sky! So beautiful!
